Ah Yat Abalone Forum @ Section 13, Petaling Jaya

When one mentions the word "Abalone or pao yu", the reaction from most would be "Ah Yat".. This place has been famed for their abalones from the smaller cheaper ones, the size of a 50 cent coin to the bigger ones that would fit comfortably in your palm, they have made a name in the food industry specialising in one of the most treasured and valuable seafood in the eyes of the Chinese.

So when my friend ask me to go Ah Yat awhile back, i was shocked because i didnt have the cash to eat abalones but he casually said "No, we are going to eat Peking Duck, its on half price i believe". That sentence calmed me down and at the same time woke me up as i am a duck fanatic which explains my body aching all the time.

Its was a month back, when they had the Peking Duck promotion which i believe after discount to be a little less then RM40++ for the main duck and a second dish of your choice, noodles, rice or stir fry. Feeling that a duck was not enough, the tai kar jie of the three of us proceeded to order a set that consists of abalone and etc for herself.

The shark fin..imagine how many bowls a whole shark can serve..

The fried cod fish with lots of mayo.. After the 2nd dish, i couldnt take pictures properly..my hands trembled tremendously, (refer to my previous entries).. the assignment was due in a few days and we only had the skeleton as in just the format to do it in..how bad was that?

This duck was what we came here for.. The delicate skin with essentially not much meat..

The first end product.. duck skin and meat wrapped in pancake with hoi sin sauce.. Honestly i prefer my Four Seasons roast duck anytime..

The duck noodles which was well quite decent and enjoyable just like how carbs should be..

Well overall, the food deserves a 3 stars out of 5 stars.. their value meals are not exactly very value meals with the names of their dishes sounding very grand but served up very humbly to say the least.. Since their opening, they have always done their business with a "discount" or "value meal" gimmick which i believe is not necessary if you have established yourself to be a big player in the Chinese food cuisine in town unless they are not, of course..
